2011 BUGATTI VEYRON OVERVIEW

The 2011 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport may be the ultimate high-performance exotic supercar. The Super Sport is a new, sportier version of the Veyron that provides an even more extreme driving experience.

The Super Sport's engine, an 8.0-litre W18 with four turbo chargers, is the most powerful ever to be built into a production vehicle - 1200 horsepower and 1106 lb-ft of torque results in an unparalleled forward thrust, sent through a 7-speed dual clutch transmission to an all-wheel drive system. Carbon-ceramic brake discs, a rear wing air-brake and an automatic height adjusting suspension are standard. Forged alloy wheels and tires were designed specifically for the Veyron in order to handle the incredible top speed. A wide variety of paint colors in monotone or two-tone applications, or even clear-coated carbon fiber body panels, are available. Standard features include heated leather and carbon fiber sport seats, a navigation system and a Puccini audio system. The color of nearly every surface can be specified by the customer.

Almost unbelievably, the 1,001 horsepower and 922 lb-ft of torque in the Veyron 16.4 were deemed insufficient by some, so Bugatti engineers boosted power (with larger turbochargers and bigger intercoolers) to 1200 horsepower and 1106 lb-ft of torque for the Super Sport version. The exterior air intake tubes have been replaced by NACA ducts and the roof has been extended rearward to mostly cover the engine. The new front fascia features larger openings with the lower one extending around the sides to the wheel arch. A new double diffuser in the rear incorporates twin center-mounted exhaust tips. The suspension is also modified, with revised springs, stiffer anti-roll bars and new shock absorbers.
